Christmas lights are out what do I do?
1st Check the Breaker Box:

Q.  What is a Breaker Box?

A.  This is what prevents your house or business from overloading from electrical power. Your box will have different sizes of breakers for different reasons.

Q.  Where is the breaker box located?

A.  Every house or business is different. Most are located outside or inside the garage. However, the box can be located anywhere in the interior.

Q.  I found the breaker box now what do I do?

A.  Open the door and look inside! Do you see any breakers in the off position or not aligned with all the others? If so, the turn that breaker(s) on or align with the others.

Q.  What if all breakers are on or aligned in the same positions and the Christmas lights are still off?

A.  Then while at the breaker box look for a GFCI breaker.

Q.  What does a GFCI breaker look like?

A.  See Picture Below

Q.  How do you RESET the GFCI breaker?

A.  See Picture Below

Q.  Why did this turn-off or trip?

A.  This is a safety device to prevent someone from being shocked. The GFCI breaker shuts off immediately when it detects moisture from anything plugged into the outlet. If it should rain or your sprinkler system comes on then the GFCI outlet will trip.

Q.  Can I change this breaker to a non- GFCI breaker?

A.  Yes, you can hire an electrician to do this for you. However, he may insist on protecting the circuit by adding a GFCI outlet. Simply put this will do the same thing the GFCI breaker did except it?s now used as an outlet.

Q.  What if I do not have the GFCI breaker and the lights are still off?

A.  Look for the GFCI Outlet (see picture below) that controls that circuit and reset that outlet. Some electricians may install several GFCI outlets and you may need to reset them all. Remember timers will loose time since they require electric to operate and keep time. You may need to reset your timers as well.

Q.  Can we change the GFCI outlet to prevent this problem?

A.  Yes, the GFCI outlet is just like the GFCI Breaker mentioned above and can be changed to a standard Non - GFCI outlet (see picture below)
